BFFs, A Team Events Staffers Story...

I’ve been best friends with Barbi for over 15 years. From our high school years up to now, we’ve remained close and shared innumerable experiences. I know her favorite hangout, the sports team she follows, which American Idol she is rooting for, and her favorite junk food! This year on her birthday, I decided to put her knowledge and the smarts of her beloved friends and family to the test. The Friends Game, a perfect party experience from the gang at Team Events, is played like the old classic TV show the Newlywed Game. Questions are asked and you quickly find out who is has been paying attention and who has missed the boat. All in good fun, you really do quickly learn who really knows all the dirt on whom…. Or at least who remembers stuff about you! Most importantly, we gave Barbi a sarcastic, yet loving, tribute that she will never forget. While it was a Comedy Central celebrity roast, it worked wonderfully and was a one-of-a-kind event that nobody will ever forget.

Who Done It? Murder Mystery in NYC

After hours of research, I had come to the conclusion that our summer intern had been murdered by our boss sometime in-between our appetizers and entrees. Stabbed with a steak knife, before getting to even snack on his surf’n turf. It hadn’t been obvious who the culprit was at first, the whole process was shrouded in an Agatha Christie-ish shroud. It had taken a while to piece together the clues, to sort through the red herrings from the blue herrings. The process had been a mixture of the Hardy Boys meet Jessica Fletcher, but in the end – before our desert was served, I’d deduced the criminal mastermind....

Bouncy Boxing, Party Planner Review

While I don’t have anger issues, I do admit that every once and a while I feel like I really need to take a swing someone, (Okay, that sounds awful, I am really not violent at all). But after an bad day at the office, sometimes you need an outlet to channel your range. Since we probably don’t actually want to hurt someone, (it would not bode well at the next employee review time), a good active-aggressive--and safe--team building activity is in order!

Considering most of your stress is work generated, your need to find a tension-reliever that won't lead to manslaughter charges. Enter: Bouncy Boxing! Players compete in a giant inflatable ring with over sized boxing gloves. Hit as hard as you want, you won’t hurt a fly!

After a particularly hideously awful few weeks at work, our boss brought this beauty out and gave us an amazing 4 hours of super stress release! Wow--it was fun! Even our office manager, who has a bad back, was throwing right hooks and haymakers.

While I caution against violence, I’d recommend the Bouncy Boxing event to everyone. Corporate events, Sunday school events, family reunions, and any other event that forces you to interact with people that make you grit your teeth.

The benefits of a Dunk Tank: Fundraising

Last year my friend, Gavin, embarked on a fundraising effort, raising money to help build a new gym for an impoverished inner-city school. He struggled with traditional ideas, then an opportunity presented itself. Gavin was given a free booth at a local fair, and realized he would have thousands of people at his fingertips on a nice warm early Fall Saturday.

The year before, the industrious Gavin had sold raffle to tickets for two seats to a Kelly Clarkson concert. He’d done pretty well, but he wanted to exceed the previous years efforts. What would tempt the passersby to drop some coin into his charity’s coffers? A dunk tank! Gavin rustled up some swim suited cuties (guy and girl) and put them on the "Hot Seat" at the top of the giant water dunk tank. For a small fee, customers threw balls at the attached targets and if they hit them, the person got a little wet. (Okay…a lot wet.) To say the crowd went wild for the dunk tank is an understatement. Gavin raised nearly triple the money he had planned too, and that included deducting the minimal cost of the dunk tank. Tons fun, money raised, and nobody drowned! Trifecta!

Super Trikes: Team Building

Let me tell you a quick story about my friend (and a Team Events client) Jack.

Jack never had a happier Christmas then the one when he got a shiny red tricycle. While he later graduated up to bigger and bigger bikes, he will always remember fondly the time whipping around his parent's driveway on that tricycle. Now that Jack is older, and a professional (-ahem- stuffy –ahem-) , he rarely got to act like a kid anymore. When did Jack have fun? Never! Work work work work…Jack was certainly becoming a dull dull boy.

A few months ago, Jack's assistant made him the happiest camper in town when he organized a team-building event that brought back Jack's favorite childhood memories: Super Trikes! Imagine a course designed by using cones and banners, where racers jump on their gigantic tricycles and race down the runway. Jack was happy--and your boss will be too!


Super Trikes is hysterical, requires everyone to work together, and really a gift for the spirits.(Safety first – each racer is fully protected, so no chance of any injury.) Watching my own boss beat the snot our of our VP by racing these tricycles in our company parking lot was one of the best days of my life. I’ve never seen the dude so happy! The Marquis DeSaad actually cracked a smile. Ahhhhh childhood dreams intersecting with career ambition…Nothing better!

So-- a unique idea..yes! Super Trikes! Easy to organize, a ton of fun and available on quick notice!

Every since Daniel Craig and company upped the cool factor in they latest 007 installment, my husband has been casino crazy. The fellow who didn’t even buy Lotto tickets was now talking about trips to Monaco and asking me where the closest Indian reservation was! I wanted to avoid any chance of our quiet and romantic weekends being replaced by ragers in Atlantic City, so I contacted the party planning gang here at Team Events and wiped up a great party to satisfy the man’s need for gambling. Team Events turned our basement into a GAMING ROOM straight out of Las Vegas! Professional dealers, croupees and decor were added to enhance the excitement, and I even rented my guy a tux to really get him into the swing of things. We had a table each for Black Jack, Roulette, Craps, and Poker, and hubby-dearest was playing Bond and swigging martinis for 4 hours at a pretty inexpensive cost. So while my intention was to create a successful event that would wean my husband off of his baccarat style obsession, I think I actually created a black jack brigand.

I can't say enough about the casino parties that Team Events throws. I get to see it all the time from the inside--but to experience it as a party host is amazing. I definitely recommend a casino-style party (and my husband would too!)

And my own little card shark is now hinting at having a casino night for his company’s anniversary!

I am working on the finishing details for a huge summer bash. The theme is "The Tropics" or "Hawaii"... we haven't narrowed it down entirely yet, but you get the point. It will be HOT and fun and we will have about 150 people partying around my huge new backyard pool.

I married a health nut. I don’t apologize for it, and I adore her. But, I my diet has changed (for the better…yes….), and I am fine with that.
